01 / Build · Software

Software built to fit your process.

We build custom systems, portals, apps and integrations when off-the-shelf does not fit, so your operation works the way you designed it.

When we get the call

From what is happening to what changes

This is how most enquiries start, and this is what changes once we solve it.

  1. “We cannot keep a standard process going.”

    Built around your actual process

The system guides every step the same way for everyone, designed around how your company works, not how a generic product works.

  2. “We built a tool and nobody uses it.”

    People actually use it

Screens designed with the people who will use them, and tested with them at every delivery.

  3. “We key the same data into three different systems by hand.”

    Everything connected

Integrations with what you already have —the ERP, email, spreadsheets—: what used to be keyed in by hand flows on its own.

  4. “Every new feature means rebuilding half the application.”

    A base that grows

An architecture designed to add features without rebuilding the system.

What it looks like

From spreadsheet to system

This is how a tool comes together: step by step, and with your team.

  1. 01 Sketch You see how it will work before a single line of code is written.
  2. 02 Screens Every screen, designed with the people who will use it.
  3. 03 Data Your information in one place, up to date, with no copying between spreadsheets.
  4. 04 In use What used to be keyed in by hand arrives on its own, and everyone sees it as soon as it comes in.

What it includes

Service by service

Custom software development

For when the tool that already exists doesn't fit how the work actually happens.

When you need it
When the process that keeps your business running fits none of the tools you can buy off the shelf, and the team ends up holding it together with spreadsheets and loose messages.
What you get
A system built around your real process, with the architecture, the security and the operational plan inside the scope. Working partial deliveries early on, not a black box that opens at the end.
Our commitment
If a market product solves your problem, we tell you before charging you to build one.

Tools for your own team

Intranets and internal platforms people actually use.

When you need it
When internal work runs on shared spreadsheets, message threads, and knowledge that lives in two people’s heads.
What you get
Internal platforms designed so people use them without being forced to, with permissions, traceability and maintenance thought through from day one.
Our commitment
A tool nobody opens costs the same as one that gets used. Adoption is inside the scope, not left on your side.

How we do it

In stages, and each one leaves something in your hands

  1. 01

    Scoping

How the process works today, who uses it and what it needs to solve.

You keep The closed scope: what gets built and what is left working.

  2. 02

    Design

The prototype of the screens, validated with the people who will use them.

    You keep A clickable prototype.

  3. 03

    Build

In deliveries: every so often there is something you can use and test.

You keep Versions in use from early on.

  4. 04

    Go-live

Data migrated, training, and support through the start.

You keep The system in production, with your team using it.

  5. It is yours

The code, the documentation and the access are yours: what we build belongs to your company.

How long it takes A small project takes about two months; a large one, eight to ten. Scope and price are closed before we start.

What we need from your side

  • Someone who knows the process and can decide.
  • Time from the people who will use the system, to design it with them.
  • Access to the systems and data it needs to integrate with.

What you take away

  • A system built around your actual process.
  • Defined processes, automated where it makes sense.
  • Integrations with what you already use.
  • Documentation and training for your team.

What we work with

The newest and the most proven, as each case requires

We choose technology for what your operation needs: the newest when it adds value, the most proven when it brings stability, and always with security designed in.

The only API was a person

The platform was built with the finish of a product: its own brand, published apps, a documented API and a back office to run it.

In
To know where their cargo was, clients had to ask a person
Out
Portal, app and API: clients answer themselves, at any hour

Questions

What people ask us before we start

How much does it cost?

It depends on what needs building and what it has to integrate with. We charge per project, with a closed scope, and the price comes out of scoping: before we start you know how much it is and what it includes.

What if something already exists that solves it?

We tell you before building: if an off-the-shelf product solves your problem, we help you choose it and get it running. We build when what you can buy does not fit.

Who owns the code?

You do. You keep the code, the documentation and the access. We may reuse pieces of our own to move faster, but the solution belongs to your company.

How do we make sure people use it?

We design with the people who will use it and test with them at every delivery. Adoption is part of the scope: a system nobody uses is not finished.

What about security?

It is built into the design: role-based access, protected data and good practice in every delivery. If you want to go deeper, Shield takes it on with the same team.

See Shield
Who looks after it afterwards?

Your team, with the documentation we leave them. And if you would rather we stayed on, Sustain maintains it and helps it grow.

Let's start with what is going on

A conversation to understand the problem before talking about technology. If after that there is nothing to build, we will tell you.
